Peterborough's Competitive

Swim Club since 1939

Update on Club COVID policy (Passed by Return to Swim Committee, May 4, 2022)

As of mid-March and early April, Swim Ontario updated their COVID policies for Club operations and the Return to Race framework.  The Trent Swim Club is now adopting these most recent updates to follow what Swim Ontario, our Public Health Units and our venues require for our operations. Supporting documentation from Swim Ontario is available here:

Screening – All club members (swimmers, coaches, officials, volunteers) are required to self-screen (passive screening, preferably using the Provincial Schools and Child Care setting screening tool: https://covid-19.ontario.ca/school-screening/ ) prior to attending any Club session or competition. Individuals must stay home if they fail self-screening, or feel ill in any way. If members arrive ill or become ill while attending a training session or competition, they will be instructed to stop participation and to return home.  It is no longer required for swimmers to send screening results to their coach or show them before entering training sessions or competitions.

Masking – For the safety of all club members, we strongly recommend continued use of masks at our indoor venues.  As always, all members (swimmers, coaches, officials, volunteers) must follow venue-specific requirements for masking.  Currently, masking is recommended but not required at the YMCA, Peterborough Sport and Wellness Centre, Lindsay Recreation Centre, and TPASC.  Masking is still required at Mark Street United Church (dryland facility). As a club, we remain committed to ensuring that club members and spectators feel safe and welcome to wear a mask and physical distance when in the facility and on deck, should they choose to do so.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding this policy, please contact the Club President, Chris Furgal ([email protected])
