Peterborough Swim Club Selected to Host 2024 Summer Ontario Youth-Junior Championships

Peterborough, ON, April 9, 2024 – The Peterborough Swim Club is thrilled to announce that it has been chosen by Swim Ontario to host the 2024 Summer Ontario Youth-Junior Championships. The provincial championships is a 4 day meet which is scheduled to take place from June 13th to 16th, 2024, at the Markham Pan Am Center in Markham, Ontario.

The 2024 Summer Ontario Youth-Junior Championships will host between 600 to 700+ qualified swimmers, representing 65 to 85+ clubs from across the province of Ontario. This event promises to showcase the remarkable talent and dedication of young swimmers aged 13 - 18, as they compete in various categories and events.

The Peterborough Swim Club is the 3rd oldest swim club in Ontario, starting in 1939, this year marks 85 consecutive years that the club has been providing competitive and recreational swimming opportunities in Peterborough and the surrounding region. The club is honored to have been selected as the host for this large provincial championship. As there is currently no 50-meter pool within the Peterborough area to host this provincial meet, this presents a unique opportunity for the club to showcase its spirit and to promote the region of Peterborough and the Kawarthas.

In preparation for the event, the Peterborough Swim Club is actively seeking local sponsors to highlight the best of Peterborough and the Kawarthas during the championship. This is an excellent opportunity for local businesses and organizations to support the event and gain exposure to a wide audience of athletes, families, and spectators.Not only will sponsors have the opportunity to promote their business/organization to the 700+ swimmers and their families from across Ontario, but all sponsorship dollars directly benefit the Peterborough Swim Club.  Sponsorship contributions ensure our swimmers have access to the latest and safest equipment to support swimmer development through training programs and skill development initiatives, and program activities to make competitive swimming accessible to current and future Peterborough swimmers.
